At the heart of who we are as a congregation, we strive to love and support our neighbors in many different ways, including our free community meal each Wednesday evening. One of the specific ways we do that is by supporting a variety of local organizations who are providing for the needs of those who live and work on the east side of St. Paul. Below are the organizations that we are currently supporting.
Merrick Community Services
Merrick Community Services stands as one of the oldest nonprofit agencies in Ramsey County, with a history of supporting individuals and families as they transition from poverty and become self-sufficient and stable. The core programs of MCS are Employment & Career Services, Family & Community Services, Food Shelf, and Meals on Wheels.

EVERY MEAL
More than 300,000 children in Minnesota live with food insecurity. Every Meal is on a mission to change that by filling the food gaps school-age children face, especially on the weekends. Through our Weekend Meal Program, we discreetly place bags full of nutritious, delicious, and relevant food directly into the backpacks of students across Minnesota – so they return to school on Mondays ready to learn and grow. GALC provides volunteers at two schools on the east side of St. Paul: Farnsworth and Txuj Ci HMong. Each week, volunteers from our congregation place food in the backpacks of the students participating in the program.
Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota
Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota is built on the principle of neighbors helping neighbors – Minnesotans rising together to practice compassion. They support our neighbors with personalized services that inspire hope, change lives and build community. Since 1865, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota has responded to Minnesota’s changing needs.
GALC works closely with the Center for Changing Lives on University Avenue in St. Paul. Our support comes in supplying Christmas gifts for the residents, collecting cleaning supplies for those living there, and ongoing support of needed items for their residents.
